However please keep in mind that the waiters and waitresses are just as forced as you are in the tipping expectation. Waiters have a different minimum wage, last year it was $2.10 per hour. This is not just the minimum, it is the standard, usually only fine dining resturants pay more. I certainly understand tipping more for exceptional service, but because of the very low wage they earn 15% is a minimum requirement, especially when dining at lunch, as the total of your meal is usually less.
