Stupid, Stupid Choices

In cases such as the attack in London this morning, the journalist in me kicks into action wanting to see how each channel covers the news story. Who is serving the public good by covering a news story such as this.

During the press conference from London that happened around 10:30 AM EST, I flipped channels rapidly to see who was covering the press conference, and who wasn’t. With the wonders of DirecTV, I get East and West feeds for certain networks, so I will cover both.

First off, I don’t normally check Court TV major news coverage, but I hit the wrong button and was pleasently surprised. Good for them.

CNN Headline News, mentioned it, but did not carry it in full. I will give them a pass.

Fox West (KTTV) was talking to the LA mayor about if they were on a terror alert. Eh…ok, I can kind of forgive them.

Fox East (WNYW) though….they need to be strung up by their toes. It seems that they felt it better to go on with regular programming. While London was publically listing the extent of the horrors, they were showing Texas Justice. I have already contacted them with a complaint, and even if you don’t get this channel, I recommend you do also. You can find their contact page here.

Basically I built this whole post just to get that point across. That WNYW deserves your hatred for doing something of extreme poor taste. If this attack had been on USA soil, you can bet they would cover it, but since it happened in such a “far away” land, I guess it doesn’t matter. It doesn’t carry as much importance as two people having a legal battle in a TV court. Nope, nothing is more important than that.
