That’s a matter of opinion. I do not find locking yourself up in a compound as contributing to society, that’s effectively removing yourself from it.

With the rules, yes. The request for Johari to not wear perfume was just that, a request, not a rule. To lecture her about compromise was hypocritical at best. “Well you should compromise, which is do it our way.” They did follow the rules though. Vito was told he could have meat so long as he cooked it elsewhere, so he did. (And I did notice when he had the steaks from Westerns, one of the Evo-Village residents was standing right there, as excited about the meat as he was.)

I have no problem with “veggies” so long as they respect other people’s choice to live differently than them. Most vegeterians I have met though want to “preach” to me about what I am doing wrong with my life by eating meat. I have no tolerance for people who do that. These folks seemed extremely preachy. At the same time though, I did learn from them and I have ordered some CFL light bulbs.
