Yep, it’s one of those posts where I go on and on about something 99% of you won’t understand or care about, so, just move along and come back tomorrow.
Pictured above is the EMC Petabyte Array. Those nine boxes would fill a good sized room and that’s because they house 2400 little 500 GB hard drives. 1,240,000 GBs equal…a Petabyte. Considering most computers come with in the range of 180 GBs to 300 GB hard drives…yeah, this things a monster. Oh…and it will set you back only $4 Million! CHA-CHING! BARGAIN! Or you can try their entry level system of 48 Terrabytes (48,000 GB) for a mere $250,000.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go update my Amazon Wishlist.
