Memorial Day

Written by Sean P Aune  |  under General Rants

You know, I wonder how many people ever pay attention anymore to what Memorial Day is about? It seems anymore it is ONLY about “the unofficial start to Summer” as I heard endlessly on the news today. I heard lots about grills, box office numbers for movies and traffic, but the mentions of the true meaning seemed to be totally secondary.

This past year I learned a lot about Remembrance Day from my froeign friends. They take it very seriously, and it is not just some day off from work. It is set to an actual date that means something to them, the anniversary of the end of World War I. Ours floats, attached to no signficant event.

I hope you all had a safe Memorial Day, but I also hope you all took a moment to remember all of our fallen soldiers.
