I messed up on the DVD-ROM drives and I'm calling them to swap that out. I meant one to be a ROM and one a burner, but I was in a rush and not paying attention....I've been kicking myself every minute since.

Honestly, figuring out the 5,000 variations of the Dual Core's give me a headache. It's running 2.66ghz, I'm fine and move on:-p

Using the same flat panel I've had for a while now, a 17" Compaq. This is the third computer it's worked with and it's still running great. I just switched out the systems (new post, Dell actually called while I was typing this), the old system was going to be $1215.48 after tax and had a $90 rebate on the extended service plan, making the plan only $100, so final cost would have been $1125.48.

Cool. But it sounds like that new Dell has two DVD-ROM drives?? One is a DVD-ROM, the other a "Combo," which means CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-ROM. Why the second DVD-ROM?

Also, where does "Dual Core Pentium D" fit into the new "Core Duo" and Core 2 Duo" family? Faster? Slower? I'm not familiar with it...

In any case, sounds good--about the same or a bit above the iMac I got, depending on what the CPU class is.

What size monitor will it have (recycled?) and how much will it cost? If you're OK discussing it...
