Jo - This is one time I do side with public outcry (unlike silly things like Britney Spears doing a fake cooking show called Crucifixins on Will & Grace). This was just bad taste from the get-go.

Shari - Oh yeah, I don't think it has anything to do with suddenly being sensitive. It has everything to do with "oops! We finally went too far!" I was giving serious thought to quitting Fox all together, which would have sucked since I watch a lot of FX, which they own. (Nip/Tuck, The Shield, Rescue Me)

I think this has more to do with Fox's concern over looking like even more repulsive bottom feeders than they already do than any sort of sense, sensitivity or waking up to the reality of how appalling it was to decide to air the show in the first place.

I think Fox has to be wary of going so far over the line that viewers will turn on them. This show was the brink of the abyss for them in that regard.

Even though I wasn't going to watch it, I'm glad that public outcry won out. Sure, O'Reilly on Fox News spoke out, as did others from the news side of the company, the emails and complaints from the general public had to have been massive if it forced this.

What did Howard Dean say? "Power to the People"?
