It may be difficult but these kinds of situations should be dealt with like attention-seeking, poorly-behaved children. Ignore them. Even bad attention (like saying you're sick of it) is gratifying to them. Gene Simmons used to say something along the lines of 'love us or hate us...we don't care...just keep talking about us.' I think that much of the U.S. entertainment industry operates on this principle. If you're seeing enough of it to be fed up with you, then you're still listening/watching/reading and that's what the media wants. The media eats it up because the people eat it up.
