Chele – That’s what I do in Tokyo. Even though I work all day, each night I make sure to go out for a walk in a new direction and explore a part of the surrounding neighborhood that I haven’t before. Oddly it seems to lead to a lot of cemetery’s 0_o

Vaction time is to go see people or to have them come see you. Not to go places, not to do things… it’s to get together with people you haven’t seen in a while, are dying to see again, would like to meet, etc. And sometimes it’s also for family time/holidays. Those are the two reasons I take vacation days. You probably don’t have to worry about the latter because… well, it’s kinda hard for you to miss your parents or need to travel to see them.

But other people… that’s a reason for vacation. And you don’t have to “do” anything with them. It’s about spending time and enjoying company. Even if you stay in the whole time… and watch movies.

So, anti-social Sean hasn’t needed a vacation in 10 years. But I bet his alter ego is dying for one… quietly. On the inside. As he cries. In the fetal position. Sucking his thumb. With his blankey.

I think it’s about perhaps seeing something you wouldn’t normally see. I have spent the last 6 months moving to different cities every week. I work 14 hours days or more and very seldom get out to do much for more than a few hours that is ‘touristy’ however… on a few occasions I do get “ME’ time. And during that time I consider it a vacation. Getting to visit places I would normally not see and always wanted too.

In the past 6 months I have gone to Disney, Graceland, major national museums, had dinner at some wonderful places I have always wanted to eat. Taking walks in cities and college towns. And met people and heard ideas I’mnot normally around (some of which I hadn’t heard)

I think therefore for some people the idea of a vacation is stepping away from the day to day routine and do ing something you wouldn’t do simply to do it

Dragon Ball Z is thankfully not my cup of tea… fights that take 20 episodes for everyone to finish “powering up” tend to make me go insane:-p

Vacations are to whatevery you “want” to do. And relax. If you do nothing more than sit at home and watch Dragon Ball Z 24/7 (grin), that’s it! Enjoy!
