It actually makes sense though I wouldn't figure it'd take 2 hours. On the other hand, if there's something that is wrong and needs to be scanned for and tracked down, it could take more than 2 hours.

Your time is worth more than mine, it seems. ;-)

My productivity is figured at approximately $75 an hour. Their job is figured at 2 hours minimum, so $90 is actually saving me money. I know it sounds odd, but it's true.

Since they are going to wipe the drive anyway, I'm curious why you didn't just do that yourself and save the $90. It's a pain in the ass, that's for sure, but if you're going to lose everything anyway, what the hey.

One thing I've noticed about computers is that a good one tends to remain well-behaved and a bad one tends to continually tax your patience. I've got an eMachine that is going on 5 years old and has never given me one lick of trouble...not even one blue screen...and it's a low end piece of crap which I've been tossing cards and extra RAM into on occasion. My husbands Dell, on the other hand, never worked right and was a constant hassle until it's early death.

Perhaps it's just that some have some mechanical synergy and their components hum along and others are in a battle for compatibility.
