It's a pain in the ass, that's for sure, but if you're going to lose everything anyway, what the hey. I've got an eMachine that is going on 5 years old and has never given me one lick of trouble...not even one blue screen...and it's a low end piece of crap which I've been tossing cards and extra RAM into on occasion. My husbands Dell, on the other hand, never worked right and was a constant hassle until it's early death. Perhaps it's just that some have some mechanical synergy and their components hum along and others are in a battle for compatibility.
