JL - oof, $.10 each is even worse than I imagined. Yeah, those were dark days, and articles like the one I quoted could easily make them come back -shudder-

Tycoon - hahaha "Mature" :P I know what you mean, about the only monthly I currently read is the Buffy season 8 series. Otherwise I just can't get that worked up about monthly stuff any more.

Thanks for that trip back to the dark days of comic collecting!
About a year ago, I came across a ton of wrapped "Death of Superman" issues in a bargain bin for 10 cents each.

Thanks for this entertaining read. I read and collected comic books for years and stopped in the 90's precisely because of glittery, multi-variant covers. I hated having to buy five copies of the same book on my meager allowance.

Now I've been reading more mature (I hope people don't mistake that term as 'adult' :)) titles like Vertigo books.

Very interesting post. I collected comic books when I was a kid and sold part of the collection about 7 years ago. I didn't make that much on my investment and based on the current prices probably never will. It's ashamed but true. I do have some of the older comics, but even they aren't worth much more then I payed for them.

Very good read.
