But why oh why do you not include Rowan's Doctor as one of the Docto's he was a fine Doctor and was not to over the top in hisa oneitime protaryl of The doctor i think Rown should be includeed witht he other bbc doctors and please oh please do leave out Peter Cusing he was not ta timelord doctor at all just some kind of mad earth scincetist he was not the timeo lord doctor at all but please put Rowan i thier he is doctor who just as well and i want two action figures of his doctor of which i ma looking for as of right now!

Hi, just stumbled onto this site via Facebook, so sorry for bumping so old a topic. Having only recently gotten into Who, my top 3 would match yours, but then I've only watched something from five of the Doctors (the other two being Davinson and Pertwee). For a while I preferred Eccleston because I thought the writing of the first rebooted series was just better than S2 or S3. But then I started paying more attention to Tennant, and he quickly won me over. Then S4 was just a constant masterpiece (at least until they brought Rose back and spoiled the nice send-off she got at the end of S2) and it only made the choice easier.

I think my favourite Doctor is always going to be Eccleston. Mainly just because he was the first one I ever watched, when the new series aired. It’s really sad that he only did one season, though. I would have liked to see him with a different main companion aside from Rose.

BJ – Yes, I put Eccleston ahead of Baker, but it really was an unfair fight just based on the quality of writing between the two time periods.

No denying Tennant has been amazing. I would love to see him work with Moffat, but alas that will never happen. I’m all nervous waiting to hear who is next, it is going to be SO hard to follow Tennant.

Mike – I have always heard it as Colin Baker was unavailable, so that’s what I went with. If you have a firm source that says it was due to him being fired, and can provide me with a link, I will gladly change it.

The death of the seventh Doctor, as I remember it, was him being shocked. True, it’s been 12 years since I saw it, but that’s what I remembered.

The shows over in the USA are an hour due to our commercial breaks. And, yes, the series is much darker. That last one is totally up to each person’s view point, but that’s how I see it.

But you are completely and utterly wrong about several things:
Colin Baker wasn’t unavailable, he was sacked.
The cause of the seventh Doctor’s death was the freaking wire in his heart.
The new series is hardly darker than the old, at all. Also the stories are 45 minutes.
