This was about the time they were getting slammed for photo-shopped pictures and false news. They backed off when the huge blogging community vowed to not use them as source any more. Its a competitive market in the news business, and I can see why they want their fair share - but if they provided valid, newsworthy stories that weren't slanted left or right, but down the middle like they use to, they would make money just fine.
