It opens on an aging Batman. He's around 60 (say 30 years from now) and retires. Then the show jumps to 20 years later (not that we'll have flying cars by then either, but just sayin'). Bruce Timm (BB producer) has also said in commentaries that one of the few rules for the show was that it takes place "50 years from now. Whenever 'now' is." Otherwise, pretty much agreed.
