Yeah, I have no ability to turn my brain off most of the time. Part of my problem with Bay films is his directing style also drives me insane, like his desire to make someone walk in slow motion when it isn't even for dramatic effect.

Yeah, you have a point on the design problems, maybe if they had more distinct colors it wouldn't be such a problem.

Having seen the movie, it seemed no better or worse than most other action movies out there. The plot didn't seem too confusing; "The Fallen" want to destroy the Earth's sun but don't come back until the last Prime is dead; to destroy the sun, they need a gizmo that only the protagonist can find because he's got crazy mech crap running through his head. Stupid, but it's not "Pride and Prejudice," just a dumb action film. I thought Armageddon was dumb too, but it could be fun so long as you turned your brain off. Little difference in my mind.

As for not being able to tell the transformers apart, that seemed to have more to do with the basic design of the transformers; all are very complex designs and so are somewhat hard to recognize, and there are no significant design differences in general between the good guys and the bad guys. When two of them are tangled up in fighting, they kind of melt together. That's not a digital FX problem, though--it's inherent in the design of the machines.
