If the show sounds different now, it’s because it is.  In a fit of rage at Talkshoe, we kicked it to the curb for the episode and we don’t plan to go back.  We also are hosting the show in a new location, so hopefully this all works out.

We take a look at a bunch of subjects in this episode such as Mark Zucerberg’s opinion of his users from when he first started Facebook, to putting on our tinfoil hats when it comes to the HP/Palm deal and how we feel it had been in the works for quite a while.

revenge of the fallen logoShia LaBeouf, the male lead of the Transformers movies, has admitted the second film, Revenge of the Fallen, sucked.

Hey, welcome to the club there, Shia!

Mr. LaBeouf is in Cannes to promote Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and admitted in a brief interview that there was a lot wrong with the second film.

When I saw the second movie, I wasn’t impressed with what we did. There were some really wild stunts in it, but the heart was gone.

Of course, this quote implies the first film had some sort of heart …

I will say the first film was at least somewhat watchable, but the second one was a complete train wreck. With the third film now in production with a release date set of July 1, 2011, the script is complete, and while people are speaking “positively” about it, who knows what that means when it comes to this franchise.

What is leaving me scratching my head is somehow Michael Bay has snagged Oscar nominee John Malkovich and Oscar winner Frances McDormand for some unknown roles in the film.  Can’t figure out how he pulled off that bit of magic, but he did.

Last week I said I would be doing something this week that would make heads explode. Well, the fact that I am typing this on an iPad would be what will make at least a few heads explode I’m sure.

I honestly thought I would not get an iPad this year, I just wasn’t happy with some of the features that are missing, and I figured I would get one when the second generation iPad comes out in a year or so. Well, the situation arose where one of my bosses at TechnoBuffalo decided that he would rather have a 3G version, so he was going to have a spare Wi-Fi version.

Who am I to say no to deal?

So, yes, I have a 32 GB Wi-Fi iPad now, and though it has been over a month since it released, I thought I’d go ahead and go over just a few things quickly.

Weight – This sucker is HEAVY!  It feels like it weighs a ton, but that’s what you get with two enormous batteries in it.

Battery Life – I’ve only had it a day, but it looks to be pretty healthy.  Although I will say charging seems to take forever.

Speed – This thing is way fast.  You touch an icon and BOOM, your app is open.

Screen – Pretty bright, no issues thus far, but I haven’t used it for an extended period yet.

Keyboard – The first two paragraphs of this post were typed on it, I only stopped because I was sitting awkwardly, which says more about the weird ways I sit than the iPad.  In landscape mode, though, the keyboard is quite generous.

Video Quality – Watched a few minutes of a video, very, very clear.  Watched a few minutes of a streaming video from Netflix … blown away by the clarity.

I’m sure I’ll have some more thoughts in a few days, but first impressions … I like it.  As for head explosions … that would be occasional Scattercast guest Mark “Rizzn” Hopkins who I will predict will give me grief about buying this in 3 … 2 … 1 …

This had to be one of our odder episodes as we somehow move from Robert Scoble in a cheerleader outfit to Facebook to Betty White & Taylor Swift … how’s that for eclectic?

Facebook may finally be getting into some trouble over its seeming hated of privacy, which the company it cleaims is still not true.  Somehow Steven and I don’t believe them.

Finally we end up on Betty White and Taylor Swift and we only kind of know how we got there …

About once a year I blow the dust off the “Crimes of Fashion” category around here.  It isn’t that I really follow fashion, but as I cruise around the Web I get exposed to bits and pieces of it, and occasionally something just leaps out at me.  Well, this year the honor goes to a pair of jeans from Jean Paul Gaultier that … really, how do you describe these?

You know, I’ve always dreamed a pair of jeans that make it look like I’m carrying a load of fescues around with me.

These … “lovely” … jeans will set you back only $458!  What a bargain!  I mean, who wouldn’t pay that when they have so many uses?

  • Carry your baby … in your pants
  • Accordion players can now carry their instrument with them! (thanks to The Fashion Police for that one)
  • Who needs a purse?  Just drop everything in your pants!
  • Sneak illegal immigrants across the border … in your pants
  • Add a water-proof liner … instant beer cooler!

Really, everyone can find a use for a huge amount of denim hanging between your legs.  Thoughts on other potential uses?

It’s Moronic Monday, which means Steven and I kick off the week by hitting multiple stupid stories.  This week we cover just a few stories, but they’re all well in the range of being moronic.

Do you love Macs?  Need a date?  Cupidtino is the place for you!  Never mind that annoys the rest of us.

Yes, it looks like Android is outselling the iPhone, but apparently people don’t want to believe this and are freaking out.

Finally we discuss Robert Scoble’s lame diatribe … and I make Steven get a mental image he will never be able to get rid of muahahahahaahahah

The schedule for comic book movies for the next two years has been shuffled around so much that it has become impossible to know when each is coming out.

As I’ve been writing about all the upcoming comic book movies lately, I’ve noticed that some have been dropped into the schedule unexpectedly (X-Men: First Class), and others have radically changed dates (Green Lantern).  Born out of my own frustrations, I figured I’d give you a run down of how the line up currently stands, but don’t be surprised if it all changes again.

I’ll go ahead and put 2010 on here also as there are still a few to come out.

Comic Book Movies For 2010

  • Jonah Hex – June 18
  • Scott Pilgrim vs. The World – August 13

Comic Book Movies For 2011

  • Thor – May 6
  • X-Men: First Class – June 3
  • Green Lantern – June 17
  • Captain America: The First Avenger – July 22
  • Cowboys and Aliens – July 29
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine 2 – To Be Announced, though X-Men may shove this to 2012

Comic Book Movies For 2012

  • The Avengers – May 4
  • Spider-Man Reboot – July 3
  • Batman 3 – July 20

Due to multiple studios having the licenses for Marvel films, the schedule is getting choked with their films: X-Men is at 20th Century Fox, Spider-Man at Sony and the rest with Marvel Studios.  DC Comics/Warner Brothers seems to be going with a “one movie per year” schedule, which is fine by me.

And, yes, Cowboys and Aliens is based on a comic book.

Well, Saturday Night Live did it, they had 88-year-old Betty White host for the first time ever, and the results?

Best.Episode.In.Years!

Not only did Ms. White just kill it, we got to see the return of former SNL female cast members who are now moms.  This included Rachel Dratch, Tina Fey, Ana Gasteyer, Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph and Molly Shannon who all popped up through out the night. At first it seemed like this might be a way to take some pressure off Betty White, but that woman was in almost every sketch.  Kudos to her.

Overall this was the strongest episode in years, and I was in physical pain from laughing so much when it was over.  This season has been so-so at best, but this episode was truly one for the archives.  I’ve pasted all the available clips below, enjoy.

To those of you outside of the United States, my apologies you can’t watch these. Blame NBC/Hulu, not me. Due to the number of videos in this post, I’ve also cut it so those on the front page of the site don’t have to go through all of them loading.

Hello, Clarice … it’s TechMeme Firday!

You’ll have to listen to the show to see why I am making the Clarice reference, but it’s worth it.  As always, Steven and I spend Friday night going through TechMeme and mocking the headlines.  Than goodness, MG Siegler is back, we were worried about him!

Scattercast is 94 … and apparently senile.

- This episode was record twice due to a phone call totally blowing take one.

- How much do you pay attention to your surroundings?
