2010 Golden Globe Nominations

Written by  |  under Movies, TV

The nominations for the 2010 Golden Globes were announced this morning, and despite the continually controversy surrounding fixes, favoritism and all manners of problems with these awards, they are still considered a precursor to what we will see from the Academy Awards.

Each year the Hollywood Foreign Press come out with their nominations for the Golden Globes, and each year people immediately start speculating on shenanigans going on behind the scenes. However, who cares, all awards in Hollywood are popularity votes, and not necessarily the most deserving, so lets just set that aside and see who did what this year.

I have to say that the most nominated film, The King’s Speech, I have barely even heard of thus far, but kudos to them.  I somewhat like how drama gets sorted out from musical/comedy at this show because the Academy Awards are always about dramas winning, so its nice to see comedies get a nod at least somewhere for their work.  And yay to Emma Watson getting a comedy actress nomination for Easy A!  Saw it in the theaters and the number one thing my friend and I said walking out was that she has a heck of a career ahead of her.  It wasn’t the best movie ever, but she really shined in it.

Somebody will some day have to explain the success of Glee to me.  I just don’t get it.

Overall not a huge amount of surprises except for The Walking Dead getting a nomination for best drama series … apparently no one actually watched it.

"HATE" anything related to Glee; Never heard of that speech movie; The Closer & Hawaii 5-0 are the only 2 tv shows I watch .. you get the point. Not much that I care for is nominated.

I love musicals and I still don’t get Glee. I’ve tried watching it and it just bored me to tears.
