The Dictator Trailer Promises a Different View of World Events

Sacha Baron Cohen is one of those guys that either hits or misses with his humor, but more often than not it’s a hit. In his next film he’s moving away from the ambush/candid camera style that he was so successful with in Borat and Bruno and moving on to actual scripted content … and it appears to work.

The Dictator will tell the story of the leader of the Republic of Wadiya and “the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed.”  You can get a pretty quick feel for where this film is going, and while it is clearly an exaggerated performance, I laughed my fool head off during the race scene in this trailer, and I’m not even sure why.

May 11, 2012 will see this hitting the screens.
