Based on the best-selling novel of the same name, Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is one of many stories to come out over the past few years that present alternate takes on history. This particular novel was first published in March 2010 and almost immediately got snapped up for a film adaptation by Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov. The pair brought in the original author, Seth Grahame-Smith, to also write the script, and production began in March 2011.
Burton and Bekmambetov financed the $69 million dollar production themselves with the latter taking up the directing duties. After a bidding war, 20th Century Fox landed the distribution rights and the film will hit theaters on June 22, 2012.
