RT @BBW_BFF: a sneak peek at Michael Bay's new movie https://t.co/5awMaFNbxL
And after a hot weekend that raised hopes that Summer 2012 wouldn’t be a total bust off at the box office, things are back on track for disaster.
The success of Madagascar 3 and Prometheus last weekend made a lot of people rethink how this summer’s numbers would turn out, but this weekend’s only two big releases have opened up to numbers that have led to them already being deemed as flops.
Rock of Ages opened on Friday in third place with $5.35 million, and looks set fo runder $20 million for the weekend. The new Adam Sandler/Andy Sandberg comedy That’s My Boy opened in fourth with $4.6 million and will come in around $15 million for its first three days.
These numbers for films with such A-list names is a pretty big hit for Hollywood, and one would think that perhaps it’s time it takes a look at what it is producing, but somehow I doubt that will ever happen.
With the exception of hits like The Avengers, it looks like this is going to be a summer movie season that most people are going to want to forget.
