@Dylan_YYC I have to get my fix of U.N. Squadron every so often.
Apparently a third Bill & Ted’s film is moving ahead some more with the announcement of Dean Parisot as the director.
Ed Solomon and Chris Matheson – the creators of the original Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure – sat down some time ago and decided to write a script for a third film in the series on spec. For those unfamiliar with the term, that means that no studio assigned it to them, they just decided to see what they could do with the characters of Ted Theodore Logan (Keanu Reeves) and Bill S. Preston, Esq. (Alex Winter) at this stage in their lives. Remember, their band would go on to become the most important band in history, changing the world forever. Have they achieved it yet?
The movie still doesn’t have a studio, and seeing as MGM owns the rights, it could end up causing licensing issues, but Dean Parisot has come onboard as the director. While you may not recognize the name, he was the director of the hit sci-fi comedy Galaxy Quest, so he actually seems like a good fit for these stories.
Currently the plan calls for it to be shot on a modest budget, which is surprising as Reeves has said he will return for the project. Winter … no offense to him … but he might take the role on for a chance at the catering table.
Do we need this film to be made? No, but as we’ve all learned, Hollywood really doesn’t care about what we need as opposed to what they give us.
