Clerks III is officially going on to paper, and Kevin Smith fans everywhere have rejoiced.
Okay, maybe it isn’t exactly paper yet, but Kevin Smith took to his Facebook on Friday to post the image you see above, and the comment that follows:
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It’s been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion…
CLERKS III will be the best film I’ll ever make.
What’s intriguing is Jeff Anderson – Randal in Clerks and Clerks II – has not yet committed to doing the third film, and Smith has said he wouldn’t do it without him. Perhaps something has changed that hasn’t been shared yet? I guess we’ll found out down the road.
Smith has said this will be his final film of his career, and I can’t imagine a better way for him to move on to whatever his life holds next.
