Gareth Edwards explains Rogue One title bit.ly/2bM6KfV
Much to everyone’s surprise, it looks like there will be a sequel to Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters cost $50 million to produce and took in $54.67 million domestically amidst some pretty bad reviews. However, the movie has done decent business overseas bringing in $151.2 million to bring the worldwide total to $205.8 million. While this sounds like it made a profit, when you factor in ancillary costs such as marketing, prints, accounting and so on, this movie has made to next no profit.
Despite this fact, it appears MGM is happy enough with the performance that it has gone ahead and greenlit a sequel. It is not clear yet whether or not how many people involved with the first film will return for the follow-up, and that includes the leads Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton. There is also a chance this could end up being a straight to video follow-up, but no matter how you slice it, this is still an odd turn of events. Is there really anyone out there screaming for this follow-up? Short answer: No.
Enjoy another helping of suckage.
