What were the 10 films to bring in the most money in the U.S. in 2013? Lets find out.
After celebrating failure yesterday with the biggest box office flops of 2013, it’s time to also celebrate some success. While the international markets have become far more important as of late, some films can still make some pretty nice money in the U.S. still. The following 10 films had the highest domestic grosses in the calendar year for 2013. Some films that opened last year are still in release and will go on to make more, but from Jan. 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2013, these were the highest grosses.
|Iron Man 3||$409,013,994|
|The Hunger Games: Catching Fire||$393,474,778|
|Despicable Me 2||$367,835,345|
|Man of Steel||$291,045,518|
|Fast & Furious 6||$238,679,850|
|Oz The Great and Powerful||$234,911,825|
|Star Trek Into Darkness||$228,778,661|
Is it any wonder we still see so many animated films? Three of the top 10 were animated. Is it any wonder we still see so many comic book movies when two of the 10 were from that realm?
I would say the only surprise here was Gravity, and to the folks behind that film I say, congrats.
