If you’re thinking of skipping seeing Captain America: The Winter Soldier, you may want to think again.
Walt Disney Company CEO Bob Iger spoke with the media recently and revealed that the events in Captain America: The Winter Soldier will lead directly to Avengers: Age of Ultron which hits theaters on May 1, 2015. He also said that ramifications of the events would be felt on ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Considering the trailers have played up the fact there is some sort of conspiracy happening in the halls of the spy agency, it would be surprising to see it not lead there.
What is odd about all this is it makes it sound like Guardians of the Galaxy, which hits theaters in August, will truly exist as its own creature. While we know Thanos will appear – the purple guy at the end of The Avengers – it sounds like it won’t have any real part to play int he rest of Phase 2 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This project, which I am excited for, is beginning to sound like a pretty big risk for the studio.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters on April 4.
