NEVERTHRONERS! To your #got bunkers! This is going to be a rough one!
From the “Do we really need this movie?” file, Beverly Hills Cop 4 now has a release date.
Yes folks, someone at Paramount has decided that a fourth installment in the Beverly Hills Cop franchise is just what this world needs. Never mind the fact the third one was horrifically bad, and Eddie Murphy is nowhere near the height of his popularity any more, audiences are crying out for the return of Axel Foley.
Apparently the story will see Foley actually working in Detroit – while he was from there in the past three films, they spent very little time there.
Brett Ratner is set to direct with Jerry Bruckheimer producing. Scripting duties will fall to Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.
There have been several attempts over the past few years to relaunch this brand, including a failed attempt at a TV series that would have focused on Foley’s son. Bruckheimer is apparently the driving force behind trying to put this back on screens because… yeah, there is no good reason.
Let Foley rest in peace, folks. We really don’t need him in our theaters again.
