CW developing DC Comics crossover series

Wentworth Miller Capt Cold

Arrow creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim are prepping a third series for The CW based on DC Comics characters.

According to a new report from Deadline, the team behind Arrow and The Flash – and the upcoming Supergirl for CBS – has begun early development work on a new series for The CW which will bring together characters from its other two series on the network. From The Flash it will be Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold) and Victor Garber (Prof. Martin Stein). And from Arrow, Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom) and Caity Lotz (Sarah Lance/Canary).

Beyond the already listed characters, Deadline claims that the plans include the inclusion of three DC characters that have never appeared on TV. Considering how large the roster of potential characters is, you can’t even begin to guess who those three may be.

Of the known players the inclusion of Lotz is the biggest question mark as she is currently dead on Arrow, so it’s unclear if she will be the same character or someone new.

It is said that the series won’t be ready for this pilot season, but with the track record Berlanti and his crew have with The CW it could jump straight to series for a mid-season launch next year. It seems unlikely that the network would want to sit on this until the fall 2017 season, but one never knows.

With the number of series the Berlanti crew is already juggling you have to wonder just how many plates it can keep spinning at any one time. With the quality of their first two series, however, I am definitely on board to at least try this new one out.
