And we’re off to the races with Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
On Tuesday, series producer Jerry Bruckheimer tweeted out a photo of Depp in his Capt. Jack Sparrow costume being detained by other pirates with the quote, “Captain Jack is back and we’re not letting him go.”
After Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides I’m honestly surprised this series is continuing. Yes, the fourth film made money ($1 billion global), but it was slammed incredibly hard for being the worst of the series. Here’s hoping Disney learned some lessons from that one. The plot does sound at least slightly better.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him. Captain Jack’s only hope of survival lies in seeking out the legendary Trident of Poseidon, a powerful artifact that bestows upon its possessor total control over the seas.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
