It seems that we just can’t get enough of CGI dinosaurs.
Jurassic World won its second weekend with a very healthy 51.1 percent drop from its opening weekend to bring in another $102 million. It now stands at $398.2 million domestic and $981.3 million globally.
Second place went to Pixar’s Inside Out which had the second best opening ever for the studio. It took in $91 million and is now the best opening weekend ever for a completely original property. (I.E. not a sequel or an adaptation)
Melissa McCarthy’s Spy took third place with $10.5 million and a new domestic total of $74.3 million.
San Andreas is still sending out enough tremors to land in fourth place with $8.24 million and a new total in the U.S. of $132.2 million. As with all of Dwayne Johnson’s films, however, overseas is where he shines and this one has brought in $282 million for a global total of $414 million.
Rounding out the top five was Dope with a haul of $6 million.
Next week’s big releases are Ted 2 and Max.
