Who cares if they’re yellow and don’t speak a language anyone is fluent in, the Minions apparently rule.
Minions, the third film in the Despicable Me franchise scored the largest opening day ever for an animated 3D film with $46.2 million and went on to an opening weekend of $115.2 million. Globally it has already pulled in $395.7 million.
Second place went to Jurassic World with another impressive weekend with $18.1 million. This brings its domestic total to $590.6 million and a global haul of $1.46 billion.
Third place went to Pixar’s Inside Out with $17.1 million and a new domestic total of $283.6 million.Globally it stands at $435.4 million.
Terminator:Genisys dropped 49.3 percent in its second weekend to end with $13.7 million. This brings its domestic total to $68.7 million. Globally it stands at $224.81 million.
Rounding out the top five was The Gallows which took in $10 million.
Next week’s big releases are Ant-Man and Trainwreck.
