Despite numerous rumors to the contrary, Channing Tatum has finalized his deal for the Gambit movie.
Tatum has been circling a Gambit solo movie for what feels like forever, but rumors popped up over the past week that he had exited the project due to unrest over at Fox which currently holds the film rights. Well, whatever the issue was seems to have been resolved now as The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Tatum has finalized his deal.
Apparently one of the sticking points was just how much Tatum would be involved in future X-Men projects. As we all know, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine shows up seemingly everywhere, and he has now been playing the character since 2000. Jackman is doing one more solo film and then hanging up his claws, and it’s doubtful someone such as Tatum would want to agree to be around for a decade or more playing the cajun mutant.
Shooting is rumored to start in October of this year for an Oct. 7, 2016 release date.
