Hugh Jackman prepares to say goodbye to Wolverine

The Wolverine - Hugh Jackman

After over 15 years of playing Wolverine, Hugh Jackman will hang up his claws with the third solo film.

As Jackman prepares to say goodbye to everyone’s favorite mutant, the actor has put out a call on social media to fans to have a say on what they would like to see him do in his last go at the character. Talking on the Sydney Confidential podcast, Jackman revealed some of the feedback he has been receiving such as “lots of calls for Victor Creed to come back.” This, of course, would be referring to Sabertooth, Wolverine’s arch-nemesis for years in the comics. He has appeared in the films before – played at different times by Tyler Mane and Liev Schreiber – but it has been a while since we’ve seen him show up.

The other big one was that  “the words ‘berserker rage’ came up a lot. If you know Wolverine, you’ll understand.” In the comics Wolverine has been known to go into a “berserker rage” which is when his animalistic side comes out and he loses all control and no one one around him, even his fellow X-Men are safe. This is actually something never shown in the films, and this seems like the perfect time to roll it out.

I’ll miss Jackman in this role, but the training he puts himself through each time is just getting to be too difficult as he grows older. As someone who was brought in to replace an actor on a film that had already started production, he has done an amazing job and he deserves a fitting send off.
