Legends of Tomorrow is coming to our TV screens on Jan. 21, but The CW is going to go ahead and start the publicity machine.
One trailer for the series came out last spring, but now we have a new, almost entirely different one that sets up a bit more of the premise that the team will be trying to stop Vandal Savage, an immortal enemy that has been running through the DC Universe in the comics for thousands of years. Rip Hunter has come back in time to assemble White Canary, The Atom, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Hawkman, Hawkgirl and Firestorm into a team that will do what they can stop Savage any way they can from obtaining his goal.
This is beginning to feel more and more like The CW shows are enjoying their independence from the DC film universe as they can just go nuts with the characters now.
The CW is promising this is its last series based in the DC Universe, but I think I’ll wait to see how much I believe them. But with Arrow, The Flash and now Legends of Tomorrow, I think that’s enough for any one network.
Supergirl doesn’t count because she’s on CBS, but could possibly exist in this same universe as she is produced by the same production house.
I’m sure I’ll check out Legends of Tomorrow, but I’m not sure how excited I am for it yet.
