It sounds like we may be on to the location of a fifth Infinity Stone in short order.
It sounds as though the upcoming Doctor Strange film may reveal the location of the fifth Infinity Stone in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Time. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige revealed some of the powers we will see Strange exhibit.
In this film, the Eye [of Agamotto] is a very important relic that can be quite dangerous if used in the wrong hands, because it has the ability to do any number of things, the most dangerous of which is, it can sort of manipulate probabilities. Which is also another way of saying, ‘screw around with time’ — which is part of our story
Considering that Strange is a sorcerer that shouldn’t sound so odd, but it isn’t a power he’s ever really exhibited to the best of my knowledge in the comics. Considering this is the second film in Marvel’s Phase Three, and we have two Infinity Stones unaccounted for, they’re going to need to start popping up before Infinity War. If any character is going to start playing with time, it seems safe to assume the Time Stone is involved.
The only place this theory falls apart somewhat is the Eye of Agamotto is Strange’s most powerful weapon. If it does contain the Time Stone somehow it’s removal would greatly reduce his abilities in the upcoming fight with Thanos. But throwing around the ability to ‘manipulate probabilities’ and mentioning time just seems like too much of a coincidence to not be a clue.
We’ll find out for sure when Doctor Strange hits theaters on Nov. 4.
