Star Wars Episode VIII will feature the return of a classic ship

Set photos from Star Wars Episode VIII reveal another classic ship is returning to a galaxy far, far away.

Members of the British royal family – Princes William and Harry specifically – recently visited Pinewood Studios to see the filming of Star Wars Episode VIII. As with everything the royal family does there were publicity photos released, and surprisingly there was a very minor spoiler included. It appears that the set they visited was a Resistance hanger bay and mixed in with the X-Wings was a very obvious A-Wing fighter.

It appears that like the X-Wings were upgraded in Star Wars: The Force Awakens from T-65s to T-70s, the A-Wing has undergone a slight redesign as well with a more rounded cockpit and some changes to the weapons systems.

While not nearly as iconic as the X-Wing design, the A-Wing has been a fan favorite since it made its debut in Return of the Jedi. Speedier than the B, X or Y-Wings, it is also more lightly armored and was considered a fighter only for the most nimble of pilots.

There were some other interesting photos… and apparently no one can resist a hug from Chewbacca. Can you blame William?

Star Wars Episode VIII will hit theaters on Dec. 15, 2017.
