New Star Trek TV series begins filming this fall

The new Star Trek series is getting all set to go before the cameras this fall in Toronto.

CBS is getting all set to relaunch Star Trek as a TV series again, albeit in a different manner. One episode will air on regular television with all subsequent episodes being available only on CBS paid service, CBS All Access. Although this series was announced back in November of last year other than the announcement of Bryan Fuller as the showrunner for the series.

Now we know where it’s filming and a timeframe of when, but other than that we still know next to nothing. We have no clue when the film is set, what the premise is or anything else. My gut feeling is it’s set in the new film universe in the early days of the Federation, but that is truly a guess at this point.

I’ve had my rough points with the Star Trek franchises (I hated Voyager) but the fact that Nicholas Meyer — who wrote the three best Star Trek films: The Wrath of Khan, The Voyage Home and The Undiscovered Country — is attached is giving me some hope. Now lets just see if they can pull this off.
