An onslaught of new releases this weekend couldn’t take down one little fish.
Finding Dory won a third weekend taking in $41.9M and a new domestic total of $372.25M and globally sits at $538.25M.
Despite a weak start, The Legend of Tarzan did end up in second place this weekend with $38.13M. Globally it sits at $56.93M, still a far cry from its $180M budget.
The Purge: Election Year took in $30.87M off of its $10M budget. Almost exactly $1M then the second film in the series.
Spielberg had a major issue with The BFG, his latest film took in only $19.58M domestically in its debut. Globally it sits at just $23.48M off of a $140M budget.
Independence Day: Resurgence slipped 59.8 percent in its second weekend to take in just $16.5M and a new domestic total of $72.65M. Globally it sits at $249.71M off of a $165M budget.
Next weekend’s big releases are Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates and The Secret Life of Pets.
