Suicide Squad takes a massive dive at the box office

It looks as though the shine has worn off of the Squad.

Suicide Squad slipped a massive 67.3 percent in its second weekend to take in $43.77M for a new domestic total of $222.87M and a global take of $465.37M off of its $175M budget. As noted, however, some analysts are saying it needs to hit $700M to even come close to a profit.

Second place went to the R-rated comedy Sausage Party which took in $33.6M off of a $19M budget.

Disney’s remake of Pete’s Dragon opened soft with $21.5M off of a $65M budget.

Jason Bourne fell to fourth place in its third week with $13.62M for a new domestic haul of $126.78M and a global take of $246.18M off a $120M budget.

Bad Moms is continuing to perform well with $11.45M for a new total of $71.46M off of a $20M budget.

This week’s big releases are Ben-Hur, Kubo and the Two Strings and War Dogs.
