Arrival trailers set up a story of miscommunication

Arrival seems to be taking a slightly different look at what would happen should aliens come to visit Earth.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve (Sicario), Arrival will tell the story of a linguist (Amy Adams) trying to figure out an alien language before the world is plunged into global war. I have to say that this may not be as action packed as a lot of alien arrival films, and I am totally fine with that.  Sicario was a great film, and I’m excited to see what Villeneuve does with this concept.

Yes folks, we’re going to watch someone figure out a language and I am totally onboard with this idea.

And now for the U.K. trailer which is significantly different with a bit more detail.

Here’s the official synopsis for the film, but I’m already sold.

When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.

Arrival will hit theaters on Nov. 11.
