For those keeping track, this makes the third director change? twitter.com/TheWrap/status…
Don’t expect the subtitle of Star Wars Episode VIII to make its way across the internet any time soon.
Appearing on the My Dad Wrote a Porno podcast, Daisy Ridley addressed the status of the highly anticipated subtitle for the upcoming next Star Wars film. Hold your horses folks, it’s not going to be any time soon.
I heard a title [for the movie], but I don’t know if it’s going to be that. I heard the title a long time ago before we started filming, and so I feel some things have slightly tweaked during production. It’s going to be a while before it’s released, I imagine.
The title for The Force Awakens was announced in Nov. 2014, a full 13 months prior to the film’s release. This may lead you to think we will see the title announced this November, but the difference this time around is we will be only a month out from the release of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Disney is not going to want to confuse the marketing that’s going on, so my guess is we won’t hear a title until Feb. 2017 at the earliest.
While it’s always exciting to hear these titles, they don’t really tell us that much. Did you really have a clue what “The Force Awakens” meant when you first heard it? Probably not. Unless Episode VIII is entitled “Rey’s Parents Revealed!” I don’t think we’ll get much from it.
