NEVERTHRONERS! To your #got bunkers! This is going to be a rough one!
Greg Berlanti is at it again with yet another super hero TV series in the works. This time it’s Black Lightning.
According to Deadline, Greg Berlanti – the man behind Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl – has teamed up with Mara Brock Akil and her husband Salim Akil to bring Black Lightning to TV. The series will reportedly focus on Jefferson Pierce who hung up his vigilante suit and his secret identity years ago. Now he is dragged back into his secret life when his daughter decides to take up crime fighting.
Pierce was introduced in the comics in 1977 with both of his daughter becoming heroes in their own right named Thunder and Lightning.
The series is currently being taken out and shopped to various networks, so this is not a lock to end up on The CW as Berlanti’s other series have. This also could mean it would not be part of the same universe and not have crossovers, but while Supergirl was on CBS, the Flash did appear so anything is possible.
There’s no word on when this could make it to air, but with several months until pilot season in the spring, my money would be on this being fast tracked.
It seems Warner Brothers is going to take over the TV comic book world at this pace.
