Hugh Jackman is closing out his tenure as Wolverine with what appears to be a very different film.
After 16 years and nine films, Hugh Jackman is hanging up his claws and bidding farewell to the role of Logan/Wolverine. I can’t say as I blame him as it has gotten insane how much he builds himself up physically for these films as of late.
Logan will be the final film and is very loosely based on the Old Man Logan story from the comics. The film will find him older and more battered as his healing factor is beginning to fail him. Sir Patrick Stewart will join him again Prof. Charles Xavier as they attempt to protect a new mutant child that has appeared in a world where the mutant population is dwindling.
I went with the red band trailer which means it’s a bit more violent, but I didn’t feel it was excessive.
The X-Men films have been a mixed bag of quality, and the first Wolverine solo film was horrible. The second one was much better, and I think with Jackman leaving the role, I’m sure he’s going all out for this last hurrah.
Jackman actually replaced Dougray Scott in the first film when Mission: Impossible II ran over schedule, and it turned into a massive portion of his career. Now comes the question of who will next play this beloved character.
Logan hits theaters on March 3, 2017.
