Madea scares up a second win at the box office

The latest Tyler Perry movie has scored another win at the box office.

Boo! A Madea Halloween won the box office this weekend taking in $16.67M, a drop of just 41.5 percent from its opening. It now sits at $52M off of a $20M budget.

Inferno debuted softly in second place with $15M off of a $75M budget. Globally, however, it sits at $147.7M, so it isn’t a disaster it didn’t open big in the U.S.

Tom Cruise’s Jack Reacher: Never Go Back came in third with $9.55M, a drop of 58.2 percent from its opening. It sits at $36.76M domestically, and $93.87M globally off of a $60M budget.

The Accountant landed in fourth place this week, it took in $8.47M for a new domestic total of $61.25M domestically and $72.15M globally off of a $44M budget.

Blumhouse’s latest low-budget horror enterprise, Ouija, Origin of Evil, fell to fifth place with $7M for a new total of $24.63M off of a$9M budget. (Read my interview of Jason Blum of Blumhouse for some insight into how their movies work!)

Next week’s only big release are Doctor Strange, Hacksaw Ridge and Trolls.
