When does a TV cast get too big? buff.ly/2NnI0Oz
The first trailer for Valerian has arrived, and it looks awesome.
Lets be up front about this: Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets looks a lot like Luc Besson’s classic The Fifth Element. Like… a lot.
And I couldn’t care a lick as I think both of them are gorgeous.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets is based on a series of French graphic novels called Valerian and Laureline that ran from 1967 to 2010.
The trailer just looks awesome and trippy, and that makes me super happy.
I’ll say this for Besson, even when he makes a lower quality film such as Lucy, you still enjoy the heck out of it. I have never regretted watching one of his movies and I highly doubt this one will be any different.
Here is the official synopsis.
Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories charged with maintaining order throughout the universe.
Under directive from their Commander (Clive Owen), Valerian and Laureline embark on a mission to the breathtaking intergalactic city of Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis comprised of thousands of different species from all four corners of the universe. Alpha’s seventeen million inhabitants have converged over time- uniting their talents, technology and resources for the betterment of all. Unfortunately, not everyone on Alpha shares in these same objectives; in fact, unseen forces are at work, placing our race in great danger.
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets hits theaters on July 21, 2017.
