Emilia Clarke is making the journey to a galaxy far, far away.
Lucasfilm announced on Friday that Emilia Clarke is joining the cast of the untitled Han Solo stand-alone film. Clarke is best known for her role of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones and has been rumored for other parts in the various Star Wars movies over the past few years.
The big question now is of course who she will be playing. Very little is known about Han’s life prior to meeting him in the cantina on Tatooine, so the stage is very open as to who she could be. Han’s girlfriend? A rival smuggler? An Imperial Officer tasked with capturing Han? Perhaps a bounty hunter working for Jabba.
Who – or what – Clarke is playing is pretty much an endless realm of possibilities. We’ll just have to wait and see what they finally announce her role as.
The Han Solo film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 25, 2018, just five months after the release of Star Wars Episode VIII.
