There is just no stopping Disney this year.
Moana is the latest in a string of hits for Disney. The latest animated feature from the House of Mouse took in $55.52M in its opening weekend.
Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, the first in a new series of movies set in the world of Harry Potter, took second place this weekend with $45.1M for a new domestic total of $156.22M off of its budget of $180M. With its foreign numbers it sits at $473.72M globally.
Doctor Strange came in third this weekend with $13.36M which brings its domestic total to $205M and globally to $615.99M off of a $165M budget.
Brad Pitt’s Allied opened fairly soft in fourth place with $13M off of an $85M budget.
Arrival fell to fifth place in its third weekend with $11.25M and now sits at $62.38M domestic and $84.38M global off of its $47M budget.
There are no films opening at 2,000 screens and above this week oddly enough, so expect the top five to not change much.
