@AnnaPaquin Wow... when you someone gets banned from a LEGO forum for discussing the plural form, you know they take it seriously.
Forest Whitaker isn’t quite done with Saw Gerrera quite yet.
The majority of audiences were introduced to Saw Gerrera this past weekend in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but the character actually has his origins in the Clone Wars cartoon. (If you’ve never watched that series, do it. It’s awesome.) Now the character is coming full circle and will appear in an animated form again in Star Wars: Rebels and Forest Whitaker will again be playing the part.
When we first met Saw he was being trained by Obi-Wan and Anakin to fight against the Separatists. Now that has morphed into the Empire and he is continuing that fight.
Dave Filoni, executive producer of the series, says of the character and Whitaker:
Forest really wanted to know a lot about the character. He watched The Clone Wars episodes with his character and I had some detail for him about things George [Lucas] and I discussed. It gave him more time to develop the character as far as, “How did he get there?”…He’s not quite as beat up as you see him [in Rogue One]. I never wanted to go into a lengthy thing about this is how Saw lost his foot. It’s more about his philosophy and who he is and what he thinks about the Rebellion — and how they go about resisting the Empire.
Sounds like a good plan to me. He was a great character originally, and this is an easy tie-in for the series.
