Break out the coffee, the Showtime revival of Twin Peaks has a premiere date!
Brew a pot of coffee (but make sure there’s no fish in the percolator) and grab a dozen donuts for May 21 as that is when Showtime will premiere the Twin Peaks revival. It will kick off with a two-hour premiere, and in total we will see 18 episodes.
During the Television Critics Association winter press tour, Showtime president and CEO David Nevins said, “We’ve seen the whole thing… and the version of Twin Peaks you’re going to see is the pure-heroin version of David Lynch.” And now I’m slightly frightened as untethered Lynch can be a bit of a slog.
As for if there will be more episodes, Nevins said, “It’s designed to be a closed-ended, one-time event.”
Will we finally learn what exactly the Black Lodge is? Will we see the White Lodge? Will we resolve the closing scene of season 2 when we saw Bob in Cooper’s reflection?
There’s a lot of stuff to get through, and I’m buckling myself in with a damned fine cup of coffee.
