Fourth Purge movie set for 2018 release

It seems that The Purge series isn’t quite done yet.

Although Purge: Election Year put a pretty tidy cap on the first three films, it seems series creator James DeMonaco has at least one more story up his sleeve. The difference this time around is he will write and produce the film, but he won’t direct as he did with the first three films.

The last film ended with a new President being elected that vowed to end the annual Purge, so you have to wonder where the series could go from here. Honestly? There are about a dozen stories I can think of off the top of my head. What was the first Purge like? Are there any Purge clubs we haven’t seen? What is it like in rural communities on Purge night? We saw in the third film there were groups who would run makeshift ambulance units, how do those work? What is the meaning of the flowers everyone puts out on Purge night? Whatever happened to the survivors of the first film?

On and on and on. The chronology of the films unfolds over two decades and this was something the entire country took part in so there are literally millions of stories to be told.

The unnamed fourth Purge film is set to hit theaters on July 4, 2018.
