War for the Planet of the Apes appears that it will be blurring the lines between man and ape.
The third film in the new Apes series looks like it will be furthering the story of how the apes came to rule the planet. We see a young human with the apes, and at least one gorilla working with the humans. The lines aren’t as clear as they will be one day in the future, and that is extremely intriguing from a story perspective.
Of all the films coming out this year, this is as just about high on my must see list as Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The first two films are amazing, and I can’t wait to see where this one is going because from the trailers I can’t really predict it. We know the apes will always come out on top, but it is clearly not a straight, easy road for them. And from the way the humans are portrayed, you’re kind of rooting for the apes to win.
We still don’t know if this is the end of the prequel series, but there have been many indications that it can go on for several more films. Luckily they have ended each one so far in such a way that if another one doesn’t happen, it’s not the end of the world and we aren’t left dangling. Hopefully that continues.
War for the Planet of the Apes hits theaters on July 14.
